Privacy
Hazeshow listens to music so it can light it. The listening happens on your Mac, and the sound never leaves it. There are no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no tracking.
What stays on your Mac
- The sound. Hazeshow analyses what your Mac is playing (or what its microphone hears, if you choose that) as it plays. Nothing is recorded or kept.
- What it remembers. For songs it has heard, it saves a short fingerprint and the show it made, so the same recording gets the same show next time. You can forget them all in Settings.
- What you teach it. Your marks, taps and favourite looks are saved on your Mac.
What it asks the internet
To know what's playing and give it the right show, Hazeshow sends the artist and song name (never the sound) to these services:
- Last.fm (ws.audioscrobbler.com): your Last.fm username, if you enter one, to see what you're playing and its genre tags. Their privacy policy.
- LRCLIB (lrclib.net): the artist, title and length, to fetch the song's timed lyrics, which help it find verses and choruses.
- Spotify's image server: if you play from Spotify and turn on album colours, Hazeshow downloads the cover picture Spotify reports for the song, to take its colours.
It reads what's playing from the Spotify and Music apps on your Mac, which asks your permission the first time.
Apple TV
When you show Hazeshow on your Apple TV, your Mac sends the picture's instructions, and the music if you choose, straight to the TV over your home network. Nothing goes through the internet.
